About/Sobre

About Sophia
I'm a Brazilian from the state of Pernambuco, who ended up in an island in the middle of the Pacific Ocean, and never went back home. Hawaii was my home for 7 wonderful years, and it was where I met my husband, got married and had a son. I had the best experiences of my life there, and it will always be home for me.
Now we live in South Florida so we can be close to Brazil and to our families.
I've always enjoyed painting my nails, and even used eye shadow pigments to make up colors when I was a little girl.
In Brazil I used to go to a nail salon every week (because it's so cheap!), but here in the US I had to learn how to take care of my nails, and when I started this blog I perfected painting my nails.

About Unhas a Trois:
Right after having my son in the end of 2010, I started investing more time into taking care of my nails as a form of having time for myself and to make me feel more womanly (having a baby makes you so tired!).
It was in these "me-moments" that I thought of the idea of starting a blog so I could document the colors, nails polishes and the improvements on my nails and nail-care.
I didn't want to do it on my own, so I asked my sister and a friend, and they said they would love to do it as well.
Unhas a Trois started in March 2011, and almost a year later, I was the only one that actually could make time to keep the blog running. Bruna and Karen decided to officially leave me in charge, and became reader instead of contributors.
The name however, stayed. As a reminder of how this blog started, it'll always be called Unhas a Trois (unhas = nails in Portugues, trois = three in French).

Today, this blog is part of my routine and life, and I love sharing my attempts at nail art, color combos and even new acquisitions to my nail polish stash.
Living in the US means I mostly show nail polish brands found in the US, but my brazilian stash is pretty extensive and as I get my hands on new brands and polishes from back home, I try to show them here as often as I can.

xxx,
Sophia
