Unhas de Ova de Peixe a.k.a. Caviar Nails

If you have read any of my older posts on nail art, you'll know I've always been a little skeptic about really wild nail art. However, blogging and participating in nail polish communities have opened my mind to at least try interesting things. So today I decided to try the controversial caviar nails, or fish egg nails as some bloggers are calling it.

To do my caviar nails I used  Primrose Hill by Nails Inc. This polish is from the special edition that has crystals on the cap. I chose it mainly because the black and transparent crystals look so rad together. The actual color of the polish isn't what I really like because it's so frosty.

I got my beads at Michael's, but they only had these silver ones when I went there.
To apply the beads I used Primrose Hill as glue. When I applied the second coat, I put my ring finger in the bead container. The application was a little harder than anticipated because the beads were bunching up in certain places, and not adhering in others. The tip of my nail was the hardest place to get them to stay. I had to grab beads individually with an orange stick, and place them at the tip of my nail.

I ended up putting some Seche Vite on top of the beads because I was afraid they would fall off. It got too smooth and ruined the caviar look. What I did to fix this was grab a cue tip, soak it with acetone, then rub the surface of the beads to let the acetone corrode the first layer of top coat. It worked, and the beads were securely attached for a couple of days, when I got tired of it and removed the whole thing.

It was so much work adjusting this one nail that I gave up on doing all nails. In the end I think this frosty purple looks good with the silver beads. What do you think?

This was a busy week for me! First plush nails, now caviar nails... I'll give it a rest and go back to my standard nail business.
Just a reminder that tomorrow is the last day to submit any photos for the nail art contest. I'm in big trouble to pick just one winner as you guys are rocking it. I thank everyone who is participating and supporting this blog! Thanks, and have a great weekend!
